Warning For All Parents ...........

In March a 16 year old High School girl was abducted and raped by a man in a dark blue SUV within Palm Beach Country Estates. She was walking home from her bus stop at approximately 3:40 p.m. when she was grabbed by the man. This happened within our own neighborhood! 
 
We are just hearing about this because the girl kept it a secret until this past weekend when she finally told her mother what had happened. The mother then told her neighbors who had young girls to warn them to be careful. The mother and daughter where going to the sheriff's office today, 10-19-09, to fill out a report. I'm not sure why the young girl kept it a secret for so long. Her assailant could have threatened her or she was just embarrassed. Either way, this may have been a one time incident or there could be other victims. 
 
Parents please talk to your kids. My two girls started giving me the "yes mom we know" until I told them this happened to a girl in our own neighborhood. Then they actually paid attention. Parents, try to pick up or walk your girls home from the bus stop. If you can't be there, tell them to walk with a buddy or at least to move off the road when a car is on the road and stay far away from all cars. 
 
It's sad parents have to be so over protective, but we do.
